This is Brian Kavanaugh, and on behalf of my co-host, Kaylee Doak, I'd like to welcome you to a special presentation of the Virtual Visiting Professor Network entitled A Midsummer Nights Stream.

Tonight's episode will be a live broadcast from the UCSF campus of the podcast plenary session

hosted by Dr. Vaniya Prasad.

Dr. Prasad's guest tonight will be Dr. Sue Yalm.

Many of you already know Dr. Persad from his many publications

and social media presence. On the faculty at UCSF, he practices hematology and oncology. He also has an appointment

in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Dr. Prasad is the author of two excellent books

that should be required reading for anyone interested in health care and especially anyone working in a cancer-related field. The first is ending medical

reversal, co-authored by Dr. Adam Sifu, and the more recent one is malignant, how bad policy

and bad evidence harm people with cancer. Many of you met Dr. Bersad a few years ago when

he gave a keynote address at the Astro Annual Meeting entitled Hype, Surrogates, and Multiplicity, three themes of modern oncology we can do with less of.

Dr. Persad has no funding support from pharma, but now that we look more closely back at that picture from his keynote address, we do see a fairly obvious product placement in it.

I wonder.

Anyway, speaking of the Astra Annual Meeting, it is coming our way soon.

This year's theme will be global oncology, radiation therapy in a changing world.
