Summary

A common assumption in the church is, "soul good, body bad." But on today's episode, our guest, Professor Nancy Pearcey, flips this idea on its head. Nancy shares perspectives from her book, Love Thy Body, where she addresses beliefs we commonly adopt in the church and identifies how damaging they can be—specifically, beliefs about our bodies and our sexuality. Nancy helps us understand how a high view of our body and sexuality can help us flourish inside God's plan for our life.

0:52.2

well, these aren't really just dad jokes.

0:54.6

Like, these can be mom jokes, too. These are a women thing. Like, I don't see anybody arguing that.

So it's interesting to me that, again, in today's culture, it's all like, yeah, that's a dad thing.

That's just, that's like men are wired that way. So, hey, maybe there's, maybe there's something to do that. Let's talk about that for a second though. I'm just curious, if you ever seen your wife, like, look around the room, say a dad joke or a joke like that and go, butooch?

1:16.0

Like, have you ever seen your wife do that in a social situation?

1:19.8

It's funny.

1:20.4

Usually when she says something like what we would classically call a dad joke, She's usually making fun of me in some regard,

1:29.9

or right after she tells it, she'll say, she'll say, is that a dad joke or something along

1:35.5

those lines? So even when she does, she's acknowledging this isn't authentic to me. This is more

1:41.3

of a dad joke thing, which I think is funny. It's a thing. Okay, so tie it in.
