Jean-A-Gadard, they're like, oh, that seems interesting, because I know what that is. He's a brand name. Exactly. But we're not talking about one of his most famous things this week. We're pulling a bait and switch, just like Goddard himself does. Interesting. So, long-time listeners will know that John Lick Gadd was one of the subjects of one of our very first episodes. And we're returning to him all these years later because there's a monument that we have to tackle in his career. In 1960, Gadar revolutionized the medium of cinema with a little movie called Breathless.

But for the true Godard fans, his summit of achievement was Histoire du Cinema.

What is Histoire du Cinema?

Histoire du cinema is a multi-part essay film where Godard takes all of the movies that made an impact on him.
