This is exactly why the church keeps in her yearly calendar the memory of so many of the saints and martyrs. We do it not to give to them,

but to be encouraged and blessed as we consider their examples and thank God for their witness.

This is so important that the church even has a sort of catch all day in the feast of all saints,

so that none of the righteous

the justified are forgotten.
