When your dad passed, did you plummet into sadness?

All my mom had was the information from her friends and this child psychologist, and it was 2001.

So we went to a psychiatrist, and that's when the medication started.

Yeah, I was on six different medications for 15 years.

anyone wanted to give me that because that wasn't what we did. And I'm 38 now. I'm still unraveling.

No, there was not one single thought. For me, the only thought that made sense was, again, I had been

diagnosed by a doctor. Oh, yeah. With the analogy that it's like, well, if you have diabetes,

you take insulin. So I thought there was something biologically wrong with me. So there was no point

in questioning it. Well, this is horrible, but it's the reality. Like, I knew I couldn't say anything to a mental health professional.

Yeah, you would get a new diagnosis.

I would have been put on an involuntary psychiatric cold.

I would have been carted off to the psych hospital, 10 blocks down the road for me,

given a new diagnosis, and put on a whole bunch of new medications.

And there was something deep in me intuitively that knew not to say anything.
