Today I'm very excited to be talking to a brilliant comedian called Russell Hicks. He's an American originally from San Diego. He's now based in the

UK and he has a very unusual approach.

I won't say unique, but it's certainly very, very strange.

He is a serial riffer.

Russell is not interested in writing material, instead to go on with as close as possible

to a completely blank slate every time he walks on stage. Now that would be all well and good

if he wasn't absolutely brilliant at it which he is.

We're going to talk about the differences between what Russell does and what Ross Noble does is probably the nearest equivalent in the British comedy pantheon that we can

is pantians too much isn't it I was a ha ha I can't remember what I was going to say I had some idea

of like you know the galaxy of Stars that kind of thing the most

famous guy that we know who is an improviser is and yet a stand up is Ross

noble but what Russell does is very very different very distinct that. We're going to talk about the economic

consequences of approaching a set like a game of pinball, particularly when you are in an industry which prizes reliability.
