The Bible Study Podcast, episode 2.92. Today, the Bible Study podcast continues looking at faith

0:06.1

and when faith falls short.

Welcome to the Bible Study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen. As we continue to look at faith, first of all,

0:21.7

my apologies for two weeks off, one was a planned vacation and the other one I had no voice.

0:27.0

But as we continue to look at faith, I want to look at what happens when we step out in faith

0:32.7

and we fail. And I want to look at a familiar story. We're going to look at the story of

0:37.7

Jesus walking in the water and also Peter walking in the water from Matthew 14. Matthew 14

0:43.8

verses 22 through 33. Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of

1:23.3

let me come to you on the water. Come, he said. Then Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water,

1:28.7

and came towards Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and began to sink, cried out,

1:36.5

Lord, save me. Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. You of little faith, he said,

1:42.7

why did you doubt? And when they climbed

1:45.0

into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshipped him, saying,

1:50.0

truly you are the son of God. Now, this is one of those interesting stories, because we use it

1:57.1

to talk about faith and walking on water. And Peter is the only one who gets out of the

2:03.8

boat, and yet it's the only one whose faith gets criticized in this story. And I wonder about that
