Guys, welcome to the J. Scott Outdoors Podcast. I'm actually in Carbondale, Colorado for the summer and kind of in a rain delay right now.

0:11.0

Woke up this morning, was planning to do some fishing, and it's

0:15.1

raining here, so I'm gonna give it an hour or so to let it kind of calm down and

0:20.9

it's actually a great day to go out and throw streamers and try and

0:25.2

catch some nice brown trout on streamers so I'm looking forward to that but I

0:30.1

had a couple questions that had come in on the Big Horn Sheep podcast that Brian Rimsa and I had

0:37.0

done and one of the things I wanted to do is I wanted to break down per unit the first choice applicants because I think

0:48.7

it's important when you're going to apply you know do you have a one in 50 you know do you have a 1 in 50, do you have a 1 in 80, do you have a 1 in 200, do you have a 1 in 500,

0:58.0

like, you know, what are the odds or what are the chances that you draw a tag.

1:05.0

Obviously we talked about you're either in the max pool or you're not and about 20 tags go to those with the max bonus points so if you're

1:16.0

sitting in that maximum point pool you really are in the driver's seat and you know it's it's you know there's a bunch of people

1:28.8

out there that are getting to a certain age where they're saying you know I just want to hunt and they go ahead and

1:34.8

put in for some of these kind of lesser quality lesser trophy known units and they

1:40.9

automatically draw.

1:43.0

And so, you know, 20 people,

1:47.5

sometimes it's 21 to 20 people from year to year come out of that max point pool and I want to say that was I don't have the

1:57.3

numbers right in front of me it was 84 or 88 people with max bonus points

2:01.2

so if you do the math, you know, for,

2:05.0

you know, a little bit over four years,

2:07.5

all of those people in that Max Point Pool,

2:10.0

which it is 28, I want to to clarify got a couple people applying that I know that have 28

2:18.3

point so if you listen to the prior podcast, 28 points is the max point number.
