I'm David Aldoushoga. I'm Sarah Churchwalt. And welcome to Journey Through Time. And the last time Sarah, we left Billy the Kid, the great legend of the Wild West, the

teenage outlaw.

He had just been indicted for the murder of Sheriff Brady, gun down in broad daylight in the

so-called Lincoln County War.

We are in New Mexico Territory, the hearts of the Old West or the Wild West. It is 1878,

and Billy the Kid, still a teenager, is fleeing across the desert. That's exactly right, David.

And he starts spending more time in a place called Fort Sumner, far away from where the murder

was committed about 150 miles away.

It's a former U.S. Army Post, as the name suggests, and it's been turned into a small

Hispanic settlement.
