Because one, I saw my first ever Cult Leader nail art. I posted the picture and tagged the artist, checked it out, checked her out. That was so cool. And then two, I lost my shit with this one.

We had a Cult Leader prom puzzle. Like, are you kidding me? Also posted, also tagged those Cult Babes. I screen-shoted it that when I saw it and sent it to my sister and I was like, oh my god, a Cult Leader prom puzzle.

We're like, what? If you're not familiar, our prom puzzles are basically how you ask someone to prom and they had a sign that was super witty and cute. So please go look at it, because it's amazing.

Okay, now, hopefully the last merch date, merch date, merch update ever. I feel like a literal Cult Leader, like the end is coming to end is coming to end.

It actually is. So I spoke with my little teen that's helping me transition my merch so I can go international. And I placed the order this past weekend for all of my inventory.

Alright, so as you guys know from the title this week we're deep diving into one of the strangest unsolved mysteries to date, which is the Black Doll-A-Murder.

I'm so happy that I did this episode because I had no idea myself what a crazy history Elizabeth Short, the Black Doll-A-Had growing up.

It was actually pretty wild. So we'll start back at the beginning. Elizabeth Short was born in the Hyde Park section of Boston, Massachusetts on July 29th, 1924. Any Michael Feds from there?

I love whenever I do an episode and you guys are like, that person was murdered down the street for me. I'm like, wow. Sorry, I'm probably giving you some anxiety, but whatever.

Her parents Cleo and Phoebe Short had five daughters in total. Elizabeth was actually the third. That's a lot of daughters. After several moves the short family landed in Medford, Massachusetts, where her father built mini golf courses for a living.

Interesting. I feel like I haven't, like I never, you never think. I thought those would all be privately. I don't know if somebody actually was contract to do that, but it was also the 20s and you know. Maybe I guess mini golf was a hit.

And they could also for all I know in these articles be talking about like smaller golf courses, but I'm just going to picture like Pee Wee Golf because that's hilarious. And then the mom Phoebe, she stayed home with the daughters.

Everything seemed fine for the family. They had a pretty good life until the stock market crash of 1929. So it actually ended up hitting the family pretty hard and her dad lost like everything.

Like so fucking broke from riches to rags. He lost every cent of his name, lost his entire savings. In the following year, the family's car was found abandoned near the Charleston bridge.

And authorities had come to the conclusion that he must have committed suicide by jumping off the bridge into the river, though they did not find his body. So Phoebe now a widow mother of five took the girls and they all moved into a tiny apartment in Medford.
