Summary
Hardships do not discriminate and trials come in many different shapes and sizes. When they do hit, remember that you possess the fruits of the Spirit. You have the gift of joy, which is essentially a superpower. You are equipped for the battle. God is for you. He goes before you. He will never forsake you. He will never leave you. His love is unrelenting and immovable. When your joy is challenged, draw near to God. He is the only one who holds all things together. Don’t focus on the storm. Don’t focus on the lack. The chaos. The loss. Instead, focus on the masterpiece that God is accomplishing and working in you and through you. Don’t cling to crisis; cling to Christ.

| 0:35.1 | They're fickle, as we know. |
| 0:36.4 | And we live in a self-centered culture |
| 0:38.6 | where personal happiness and personal fulfillment are literally the prize for so many people. |
| 0:45.8 | But because we know happiness is based on impermanent things, this earthly pursuit of happiness |
| 0:51.5 | will never satisfy. |
| 0:55.0 | It will never be more than an unattainable or momentary pleasure. |
| 0:59.0 | Now as Christians, we look beyond the dictionary, thankfully, straight to God's living word. |
| 1:06.0 | And what we find is that there's a significant difference between happiness and joy. |
| 1:11.6 | And it has been said that happiness depends on happenings, but joy depends on Christ. |
| 1:17.6 | Oswald Chambers put it like this. |
| 1:19.6 | Happiness depends on what happens. |
| 1:22.6 | Joy does not. |
| 1:24.6 | I love that quote. |
| 1:25.6 | Biblical joy is a gift believers receive by the power of the |
| 1:29.5 | Holy Spirit. And even Paul writes in Galatians chapter 5 that the fruit of the spirit is love. |
