What is going on, everybody? Welcome to episode 29 Trail Tales. My name is Kyle O'Grady, and this is the podcast where I, a through hiker

and a peak bagger and just a dude that has nothing better to do than walk for thousands of miles

in the woods. Chat with other through hikers and peak baggers and other people that have nothing

better to do than hike thousands of miles

through the woods or paddle thousands of miles through the woods as we're going to talk about today.

And yeah, I just kind of spilled the beans there.

This week's episode is with a guest named Effie Drew.

She has done a bunch of through hikes, but she has also done this thing called the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, which is not a through hike, but a through paddle.

I know that's a little bit different than anything I've talked about on the show before, but if you're really so dedicated to hiking that you don't want to hear about something that's pretty much the same thing as a through hike except in a canoe on the water, then I don't even know what to tell you.

Effie is super cool. She teaches me a bunch about what this Northern Forest Canoe Trail is and of course some of the similarities and differences that a through paddle has compared to a through hike.

They're actually a lot more similar than I was thinking, which was really cool.

I learned so, so much.

We also talked a lot about dogs.

I mean, that's another big thing.

The subject of dogs.

I really haven't covered hiking with dogs at all yet on this show.

So that was really awesome.

Effie has hiked a bunch,

like thousands of miles with her dog Luna. And as somebody who did not grow up around dogs

and has never really hiked with a dog before, I learned a bunch about that, which was awesome.
