Over the course of the last few weeks, we have seen the fall of many people in power.

The news of Harvey Weinstein's sexual assault and harassment caused somewhat of a frenzy that is now

being dubbed the Weinstein effect. But before I get into that, I want to give you a little background on

Harvey. He, along with his brother Bob, were chairman of the Weinstein Company that was established in

2005. The name Weinstein, up until very recently, was highly regarded in the

film industry. The brothers were famous film producers. Harvey specifically was known for being

very involved and intrusive in the films that he helped Greenlight. He was also known for being

somewhat of a domineering bully, which is something that does not shock me given

the level of success and power he obtained.

In October of 2017, the New York Times and The New Yorker broke a story regarding Harvey

Weinstein that destroyed his career and reputation within minutes.

It was reported that more than a dozen women had accused Harvey of sexual harassment, rape,

and assault over the span of his entire career.

After this story broke, his wife left him, he was fired from his job at his production company,

and any ties he had to the American and British academies of film were completely severed,

along with many other denouncements far and wide.

In the days that followed, more and more women came forward sharing their experiences with Harvey Weinstein,

driving home the idea that these allegations were true, and this man was a sexual predator.
