Hello, I'm Alicia McCarthy, and this is today in Parliament from BBC Radio 4th, Wednesday, the 29th of April.

Whereas this session of Parliament comes to an end, the Conservative leader uses the last Prime Minister's questions

to attack Kiyosthama over the size of the benefits bill.

Isn't the real reason the Prime Minister can't cut welfare that he squandered all his political

capital saving his own skin?

But the Prime Minister defends his government's record.

More rights at work, more security for renters, lifting half a million children out of poverty.

That's our mandate. That's our mission.

Also on this programme, is running an electric car cheaper than you think?

If you have a driveway in particular, you have the ability to save

hundreds of pounds from the get-go compared to the cost of fueling your petrol car.

So it was the last Prime Minister's questions before the end of this session of Parliament.

MPs and peers will now be away from Westminster for a few days, returning on May the 13th for the

state opening, when the King will read out the list of new bills the government wants to turn

into law over the next few months. But politicians on all sides will be busy between now and then,

as there are local elections in England and to the parliaments in Scotland and Wales.

And so with MPs about to head off,

the Conservative leader used her questions to challenge the Prime Minister

over what his government had achieved since the session of Parliament began

after Labour's election victory in July 2024.
