Summary

Many churches today practice deliverance ministry, which seeks to free people from the oppression and possession of demonic spirits and influence. Deliverance can involve practices like prayer, naming and binding demons, breaking generational curses, taking authority over spirits, and identifying sin patterns that (according to deliverance ministers) give demons "legal rights" to oppress or demonize believers. In this new multi-part series, I'm joined by Doug Geivett and Richard Howe to pose some questions about the general category of "deliverance ministry" and pose some concerns about the lack of biblical basis for these practices. 0:24.9	And so for us to depend for knowledge about these things on any reports or behavior we witness from them is going to be a little bit dicey, isn't it?

1:21.0	people into error, might lead them away from scripture. And so I have concerns about a topic
1:27.3	that I will broadly call deliverance ministry. Now, I have concerns about a topic that I will broadly call deliverance
1:29.4	ministry. Now, I realize this is a divisive topic. I realize it's a sensitive topic because
1:34.3	people are very passionate with their views on this topic. You have people who are passionately
1:39.3	against deliverance ministry and people who are passionately for it. And it can be something
1:43.7	that people are very
1:44.6	emotionally connected to because of experiences that they've had or encounters with the demonic
