This is the Baima podcast with Marty Solman. I'm his co-host, Brent Billings. Today we begin our examination of the Book of Hours or the Book of Glory, which are you prefer, I guess. What does it look like to believe in Jesus?

0:20.0

Yes, I think I'm going to make a decision. We got a pick one and I think I'm going to go with book of glory. I guess what I'm going to do. It is what I like. Yeah.

0:28.0

I just like I didn't. It wasn't my favorite ever, but the more I sit in John, the more I'm like, no, and it matches like Hebrews theology.

Like this is this is what it means to be brought to glory. Jesus's glory is not what we typically think of with glory. Jesus's glory is is death. Jesus's glory is losing so that everybody else wins.

0:52.0

Everything is upside. So I like I think I like book of glory. I'm going to go with book of glory. I'm fine with book of hours. I like that too. And I've explained that now a few times in the podcast. So we're going to let that be.

1:02.0

And I'm going to start calling it the book of glory. So there you go, Brent. We made a decision. You like it. I love it. Book of glory is my, my banner.

1:09.0

Boom. Okay. Well, let's get in there and read. I'll probably let you read a whole maybe a whole verse here. By the way, how about that episode of Josh Bosset?

1:19.0

We haven't recorded it yet. So I'm sure it was great. How is like Brent? What are you doing? I have no idea what he says. Exactly.

1:29.0

So it will be I have zero, zero doubt that it will not be amazing. So yeah, or it's got that's awesome. Do I do I doubt that it? Yeah, whatever.

1:44.0

Anyway, it'll be great. I've heard the notes. I know it's got some great content. I can't wait to hear the delivery. Yeah, I know you've kind of had a little bit of preview. He said he's been

noodling over the concept with you. So yeah, anyway, let's read the text. Yes, it was just before the Passover festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the

Father, having loved his own who were in the world. He loved them to the end. All right. So come time for the Passover. And Jesus knowing that his time had come. So there's that idea of the hours.

2:19.0

The hour has finally arrived. The hour is here. And and now he wants to show him the full extent of his love. So what will that look like? How is Jesus going to show them how big, how deep, how wide, you know, the width and the depth and the breadth of his love? How, how is he going to do that?

2:39.0

We are about to see it's going to be cloaked in the Passover context, but I'm going to let you give us a few more verses. We'll read chat about them. The evening meal was in progress in the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon, a scarier to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the father had put all things under his power. And that he had come from God and was returning to God. So we got up from the meal took off his outer clothing and wrapped a towel around his waist.

After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples feet, drawing them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

3:13.0

Okay. So we I didn't put this in our notes, but we should probably link the session three episode on betrayal.

3:20.0

If anybody wanted to go back and revisit the context of who is Judas and there's going to be a lot of talk about Judas in this episode today.

3:28.0

What what is behind you know, the devil entered into him like what is that like the adversary is at work in Judas.

3:36.0

Whether you want to hear that as the devil with a capital D my old and IV. How's it uncapitalized? How about yours Brent?

3:43.0

That's episode one thirty one, by the way.

3:47.0

Okay. Excellent. Verse two devil is lowercase in the new and IV.

3:53.0

Okay. And the new enemy. Okay. What does the NET do also lowercase devil? Okay. So it's this idea of like the adversary, the opposition is at work in Judas and we talked in that episode.
