Summary

This week, we take a look at a man who was accused of something pretty terrible, but he continued with his baseball career, like it never happened, even going on to be a World Series champion. But that dark thing was always hanging over his head, especially since his excuse was self serving, at best, a complete insult to everybody's intelligence, at worst. And it's not the end, as his other accused crime may even be scarier than the first, this time involving kidnapping & gunplay! The end of the episode will be quite the surprise, as well!! It's as wild ride!

Be a 43rd round draft pick who ends up making $50 million, get your wife to recant accusations, while on the witness stand, and carry on with your career like nothing happened with Julio Lugo!!

Check us out, every Tuesday!

!We will continue to bring you the biggest idiots in sports history!!

0:44.4

doosies lately last week. Fun stuff we went down under for an insane Australian. I don't think we've had many episodes where our subject threatens to light someone on fire after

0:57.9

soaking them in gasoline and wrapping a chain around their neck. We've had some murders, but they're rarely to that extent. Those pretty wild stuff. If you said, I don't know who that guy is and skip last week, you should go back and listen because that shit was insane. 2:42.5

Crime and sports this week. We have on field incidents that lead to off field arrests. So yeah. And it should be called hockey players are insane.

2:52.5

Is it's mainly about hockey players, deciding to beat people with sticks. Not necessarily other players too. Or coaches of people in the stands. It was two little girls.

3:03.5

A lot of crazy stuff going on there. And then for small town murders, you need to hear this. We talked about the Tony Alamo cult. And not only that mainly concentrate on their insane.

3:18.5

We talked about the fashion thing because we talked a lot about the cult. But then they made these jackets that were worth so much money. And they were like really popular with every celebrity there is insane. And so we talked about those. So high price.

3:33.5

So high friends still today. Very, very expensive. It's wild stuff here. Patreon.com slash crime and sports. You get it all. And you'll get a shout out. Jimmy's going to mispronounce your name at the end of the show while trying very, very hard to pronounce it correctly.

3:47.5

And if you just want to get the shout out and have amazing karma, you can do that as well over at PayPal using our email address crime and sports at gmail.com.

3:57.5

All right. That said, let's get into this. Oh boy. Let's do this. We're going to head back into baseball here because it's been a while. There are, I'm going to be honest. There are a lot less baseball player criminals than other sports.

4:11.5

They seem to keep it together. I don't know what it is. There's just less of them. Yeah. It's a, it's a strange thing. I don't know why I get number one. It's not a violent sport. It's a sport where most of the sport is waiting.

4:25.5

So when you get a sport where most of it is waiting and very, very rarely is there any physical contact whatsoever. You're either way.

4:36.5

There is. It's like it's shocking. Yeah. It's that's what I mean. And when they're going to that's also because there's like no padding or anything. So when people hit each other, you're like, Oh God, Jesus. Why would you?

4:46.5

And then like even while you're playing, if you're, let's say you're playing left field, you're just hanging out out there by yourself for a long time. The ball might not ever get hit to you that.

4:55.5

And you might just stand there for 15 minutes and then run back in and then wait to hit. And maybe you don't hit that. And either. So you just sit there for that. You go back and you wait some more. So there's a virtue. There's a certain level of patience. You need to have to be a baseball player that maybe maybe that just prevents them from committing as much crime. I'm not sure what it is.

5:15.5

And it's always been that way. There's just less players and baseball players will have little things. But then they like kind of get it together after that. Whereas. And it's weird because there's 25 guys on a team. So you would imagine that, you know, there's plenty of guys to fuck up with. You don't fuck up as much. So the rare this week we're going to talk about Julio Lugo.
