I think, because when I was maybe a teenager, I was working here and there, and my dad had said,

hey, you want to buy some stock? He was like, buy McDonald's. And first I thought he was tricking me. I thought he just wanted to take my money

because he would say hey if you give me some of the money that you're working I'll buy McDonald's stocks for you and I was like no no no, no, no, no, I think he's just trying to take my money

and I'm never gonna see it back again.

So I didn't really believe him, but at least it was in my head

that that's what you should do.

For a long time, my dad was always very frugal, which actually was more of a negative for me and I didn't like it at all.

I have this funny story where I tell people that I asked him for a quarter and he said no so I said can I have

five cents and he said no and I said can I have a penny and he said absolutely not

maybe hearing my friends talk about how how comfortable they felt now or how how rich they said they felt from their investments made me realize, okay, maybe I have to see myself differently now and I'm not the person that I started out as who was you know hundreds

of thousands in debt from student loans so it was kind of like that shift of

hearing other people and their perspective of what they said they have and then

kind of checking my accounts and then realizing okay I'm in a different place now.
