Summary

In this episode, John and Zach discuss hunting during the late season on heavily pressured public land. Public land can feel over-pressured during the late season but there are usually still some really good opportunities during the end of the season. Due to John’s occupation, over the years he has had a lot of time to target mature bucks on public land during the second half of the season. Zach and John discuss the challenges and benefits of late season hunting, how they find un-pressured areas, and their focus on food sources and bedding areas to pattern deer. They also discuss how a variety of weather conditions changes their strategy for that given day and how those weather conditions impact deer movement. They also discuss the challenges of finding fresh sign in lower deer density areas and what buck sign they expect to see in different habitats and terrain. Finally, they explain how they both value learning from hunting experiences in different areas and the importance of making informed theories based on observations and how that helps them stay persistent and confident. 0:05.0	I was actually introduced to Johnny through our buddy Bo and it was a couple seasons back. I was talking with Bo and he kept mentioning his buddy Johnny.

0:16.6	Bo seems like he's been influenced a lot by his friend John.
0:20.6	So I figured I'd give him a call and you know do a podcast with him on our
0:24.3	channel right away we hit it off really like talking with Johnny and learn a lot
0:29.0	from him and one of the things that I think is really unique about his hunting situation is over the years he spent a ton of time hunting during the late season.
0:38.0	Due to his occupation, he has more time to hunt later in the season and focuses a lot on late season strategy
0:46.4	and how to hunt different areas. Whether that be the Midwest or the eastern hills in states
0:51.7	like PA, West Virginia, or Ohio.

1:23.6	it's based off of just a couple very specific situations
