Our guest today is Brit Ray.

She's the co-host of the BBC Podcast Tomorrow's World and is currently working on a PhD in

science communication at the University of Copenhagen.

And we'll be speaking with her today about her new book, Rise of the Necrofauna,

the science, ethics, and risks of de-extinction, which is about using breeding, cloning, and genetic engineering to resurrect extinct species such as woolly mammoths, passenger pigeons, phytosines, or ox and more.

And before we get to the interview, I have a very important announcement for our Patreon supporters.

Next week Patreon will start charging a processing fee for every episode that we release,

which means that everyone who's supporting us on Patreon will be paying a lot more and virtually

none of that money will be going to us. So what we're recommending is that

instead of pledging one or two dollars per episode that people switch their

pledges to five dollars per episode with a monthly max of $5, or $4 per episode with a monthly

max of $4, etc.

So for example, if you pledge $5 per episode with a monthly max of $5, you'll be charged five dollars when we release our first episode of the month and then you'll be charged nothing for any other episodes that we release that month.

So in effect, this is a way to switch everyone from pledging per episode to pledging per month so that you only have to pay

the processing fee once a month rather than every single week. Making the switch will save most of
