Genesis chapter 33 verses 18 through 20

and Jacob came safely to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, on his way from

And from the sons of Hemore, Shechem's father, he bought for a hundred pieces of money the

Now what's interesting about these verses and why I share them now is because Jacob when he was leaving his home, he camped at Bethel, the House of God.

That's where he had the dream with the ladder, the angels going up and down on it.

God revealed himself to Jacob, God gave him promises and Jacob said I'm gonna come back

eventually to this land, I'm gonna set up my family here and call this the house of God.

Now what's interesting is, years later,

Jacob has gone all the way to Leaven, he's found, obviously for himself, wives, family,

he's come back and he's 20 miles short of Bethel and he stops at the city of Shekham and he pitched his tent there and he sets up an altar and he basically stops 20 miles short like just

short of where he had said he would come back to. And what happens after this,

Genesis chapter 34, is horrible, like his daughter is abused and mistreated, his sons become murderers, we'll look at that in

telling me to do, to say oh this is not a big deal over here or there and the problem is once we stop a little bit short, then

we can grow content with stopping a little bit shorter, a little bit shorter
