Hey there and welcome back to the Beginners Garden podcast. I have a question for you.

So have you ever gotten to the point where you are planning your garden and maybe you've already

decided everything that you want to grow? But then you come to the point where you have to decide

how much of each plant that you want to grow and you get stuck. Maybe you're a brand new gardener and you have

no idea. Do I plant 15 tomato plants? Do I plant one? Or okay, how many rows of bush beans do I need?

Not only can first time gardeners get tripped up on this, but anytime we're growing something new in our

gardens that we've never grown before, like maybe you're deciding that you want to do dry

beans now instead of just green beans. That's a big question to ask, okay, well, how many foot

row of beans do I need if I'm shelling them out for dry beans as opposed to green beans?

It's a very important question

and it's one we all need to consider whether we're a first time gardener or whether we are

starting something for the first time or maybe we didn't have the quantity that we wanted in

years past and we need to adjust. Here's the thing though. I have been fielding this question for a long time

and I've actually never addressed it before. And I think part of that is my own hang up because I'm such a

black and white person and this, the answer to this question is not a black and white answer.

When there's a subject that has so many variables,

it's honestly hard for me to answer because I don't want to steer anyone wrong.

But I had to be honest with myself and realize that this is a good question

and it's a question we all have to ask one way or the other.

And so instead of not answering it because I'm afraid

to steer you wrong because of all the variables, I decided, you know what, I need to try to help
