He is a professor of biology and clinical nutrition and exercise physiology at the Institute

Whenever I started this, I thought, wow, it's interesting because backcountry hunting

is much as we talk about it here on the podcast and as much as you may be interested in it.

It's such a small part of the world that a lot of people don't know about and I was never

aware up until Dr. Coker's work of anyone who had studied backcountry hunting from a very

scientific and academic perspective.

But Dr. Coker has and he has looked at the demands of backcountry hunting on the body

in terms of nutrition, caloric, expenditure, and things like that.

So one such example is a report that he published called the energy requirements of metabolic

benefits of wilderness hunting in Alaska.

Again, very scientific, but we break this down into things that you and I as hunters

can understand.

And so we take Dr. Coker's research and his findings and apply that to you and apply
