I'm doing fantastic today. Sun shining. We're in the month of May, so that always feels good

knowing that spring's here, warm weather's around the corner. But really, you know what's around the corner

Oh, I am doing great, Lance. Thanks a lot for asking. We made a new friend in this interview.

His name is Bob Mata. He is a former defense attorney turned podcaster. And he's doing a great show called the defense diaries

or just simply defense diaries. And you can find it at defense diaries.com. And Lance, he's got a really interesting connection to true crime

being that his father was the attorney for John Wayne Gacy, or one of the attorneys.

There are many fascinating things about that. First, Bob Mata's father, Bob Mata senior, in his defense of John Wayne Gacy

also had to defend the fact that he was defending somebody like John Wayne Gacy and Bob Mata junior

also has to justify why his father would defend somebody like that. And it's really interesting to hear him talk about this.

Everyone has the constitutional right for a defense. And there are these bombshells that Bob has revealed in his podcast,

one of which is the fact that evidence was planted, which led to the arrest of John Wayne Gacy.

So you have that moral and ethical rub there.

Yeah, it's an interesting point. But I think Bob has found that if you tell people that John Wayne Gacy was convicted on planted evidence,

most people don't really care because he's a serial killer. He's convicted serial killer. But the argument is absolutely there.

And it is interesting to hear. And Bob definitely makes a great point of it with his podcast and in this episode.
