My name is Paul Mathers and I'm an amateur historian.

I'm a 28-year-old loser with nothing better to do than research topics that interest me.

I do the historian thing as a hobby on weekends, and whenever I can scrounge up enough

PTO for my soul-sucking office job.

I know that sounds boring boring and sometimes it is,

but I delve into the stranger's side of the world.

I've documented the Alaskan Fishman,

the swamp children of the Mississippi,

and the frog boy of Fargo, just to name a few.

Most of my exploits have turned out to be hoaxes.

But every once in a while, I uncover something truly disturbing,

something that makes me question my entire existence.

That's exactly what I found in a small town in West Virginia.

What I saw there is put an end to my research expeditions for good.

I had gone down a rabbit hole on peculiar weather phenomena when I happened across it,

a blog post with only three likes.

The title read,

Whatever you do, stay away from Salt Lake, West Virginia. The storms are deadlier than you think.

My curiosity was instantly peaked. The article continued on to mention a type of storm that

only occurred in a single isolated West Virginia community.
