Hi everyone, welcome to the Golden Ratio podcast. I am Jen. J.R. Mom joined us always by J.R. Dad. Hi. How's it going J.R. Dad? Good. Excellent. Excellent.

0:17.0

The cocktail of the week this week is the Columbia continuing in the Ivy League theme from last week. Yeah. Do you want my impression? Yeah.

0:26.0

Yeah. It's a white rum raspberry syrup and lemon juice. I use strawberry syrup, which is a little more pedestrian. But it's like not my thing. It's pedestrian. That's what it is. It's pedestrian. Such a good name. Good description of an Ivy League drink. It's pedestrian. Could be better. My monocle fell out. So bad. Now it was very fruit forward and sweet tasting. Yeah.

0:56.0

That's a little bit. There wasn't a balance against the sweetness of the fruit juice. Yeah. I think that's right. It's just not as good as the Harvard. Harvard? Currently in first place. We're biased. Are you ready for administrative corner? Oh my God. I love administrative corner. I'm always ready for it. We could have like every morning we could have administrative corner. I'd be like this is divest. Maybe you and I should just have like a little one on one.

1:26.0

Administrative corner. Oh, you'd have my wrapped attention. I'm like, I already go. Let's sit down. Get your coffee. We'll do administrative corner. Everyone my attention just say it's administrative corner and I'll come running like a golden retriever. Oh, it's good to know. Yeah. So I have three items under administrative corner. But the first one's sort of a sad one, but I wanted to talk about it anyway. So I have a couple friends that I have been friends with since like elementary school, like literally two.

1:56.0

I mean, there's people that I was friends with for longer than that. But these are kind of two friends that I still like. Oh, I thought you said since you were two, which is a long time. I don't have any friends that are that I've known for that long. Maybe like fourth or fifth grade though. Yeah. So anyway, my friend who's also name is also Jen. In fact, she was the other Gen G in my class. I've said I've had to be Jen go because I couldn't just be Gen G because they were two Gen G. She's the other Gen G, which is an awesome nickname. But it's a sad.

2:26.0

Origin story. Yeah. So the other Gen G, her mom Mary, who I, you know, as I became an adult, became friends with her independently. She died this week. She had a stroke like 10 years ago. And it had mostly recovered from it. And, you know, I had had dinner with them. And you never would have known anything had happened. But she had another stroke last week. And I think they got her to the hospital. But she had another one in the hospital. And she died.

2:55.8

And it's very sad. And I just wanted to like mention her here because she also rescued Golden Retrievers. Like she fostered them and rescued them. And then when I started thinking about doing it, like when great, we got hops. And great was like, you know, you should think about fostering. I was like, Mary, I have no idea what I'm doing. Like, do you have any advice? Like what should I look? Like what's going on? Like this dog is just going to show up.

3:25.8

And she was like, so nice and supportive and spent a ton of time like talking to me about it. And, you know, figuring out what they need and helping them settle in and like what to expect and how to know, you know, if you have one that you should keep, if you want to keep one or if you should adopt them back out, she was just like really great.

3:43.9

And, you know, that's not like the only memory I have of her. But like when we started doing this dog stuff, I guess you were technically around the universe, talk to her.

3:53.7

But she was just like really, I can't believe you never talked to her. Nice dismissal there. What the heck was that?

3:59.7

I mean, I was collectively like when we started doing this, but like, it's not like she sat down with the two of us. I got it. I got it.

4:08.0

Yeah, she was just like really helpful with among many things, like helping me get started with the dog rescuing. So I just wanted to give a little memory of that for her.

4:20.1

Not her. Maybe let's kind of her work continues through us a little bit.

4:25.5

She was also very active in P flag, which is awesome. Like even though we grew up Catholic. And I mean, her funeral is at the Catholic church. Like she was super supportive of like young kids who were trans and like helping their families, like figure it out. She is a trans daughter.

4:41.7

And I didn't know what P flag was actually. Oh, hang on. Now I get to remember what the acronym is.

4:49.3

Alright, I had to go look it up because it's been so long. I don't remember what it stood for. So it's parents. It was originally parents and friends of lesbians and gays and then became parents families and friends of lesbians and gays.

5:01.2

And it was, yeah, anyway, it's P flag. That's nice P F L A G. So they just like generally are an advocacy group of, you know, I think primarily family members of the LGBTQ community.

5:16.4

And she was really active with them. And, you know, like we had talked about her going to, you know, talk with the parents about like how to support their young kids who were transitioning. And she was just like wonderful and supportive.

5:28.1

That's great. She sounds awesome. She was a good one.

5:32.4

So, yeah, that was a sad one to start with. But a lot of people are going to miss her.

5:39.1

Okay, shifting to like truly more administrative options. The sound is messed up on the snaps.
