This week, my guests are Denise DeMate and Selma Hunga. Denise is the founder and director of 3C paranormal.

Her interest in the paranormal started in the late 90s when she purchased a very active house.

That led to a career spanning over 25 years

of investigations. Her love of the history of Gold Rush-era towns has led her to specialize in this

particular genre. When she is not pursuing things that go bump in the night, she impersonates

the infamous Cortez-Lola Montes at Gold Rush celebrations. Selma Hunga is an investigator and site coordinator for 3C paranormal investigations.

She became interested in the paranormal as a child growing up in the historic Gold Rush

town of Dutch Flap.

Stories of hauntings were abundant, many centering around the hotel and the old school that

served as the community center.

With nothing much for children to do,

they often played in the cemeteries and around the hotel and school, hoping to see ghosts.

After high school and moving to Colfax, she rented a house where she would hear sighs and murmurs

and often smell perfume. When she's not investigating, she dresses up as a lot of crab tree,

the nation's darling at Gold Rush events.
