There is, particularly when it comes to genderism, a lot to be ashamed of in what's happened over the last decade or so in what we call the gay community.

A certain kind of person, a certain kind of gay man in particular, who's not trans, really took it up. You know, picks up a cudgel and really went for it, you know,

so that anybody sort of slightly going out of line was kind of leptong.

So without any kind of consultation or thought, suddenly the gay institutions were

swallowed up by the gender movement.

Hi Brendan.

So Gareth, let's talk about your book, Gay Shame, The Rise of Gender

Ideology and the New Homophobia. There's so much in this book that I want to

talk to you about. It's funny, it's insightful, it's dissenting in relation to some of the new ideologies of our time.

But I guess I want to kick off by asking you about the title of the book, Gaye shame, and I was just

thinking about how that would strike the average punter who walks into a book shop and sees this book on the shelves.

Because we live in an era of pride. Pride is omnipresent. You can't escape escape it the pride flag flutters from every building in the world

We're all encouraged to feel pride towards our sexuality or our gender identity or whatever it might be. It's always struck me as weird that someone

would be proud of their sexuality just as it's weird that they might be ashamed of it. But pride is the buzzword

of our times and yet you come out with this book called Gay Shame.

So just give us a sense of what you mean, a broad sense of what you mean by Gay Shame and why you've called it that.

It was too good a title to resist really because I was approached by the

publisher forum which is an imprint of Swift Press and they came to me with the idea of putting a book like this together,

specifically about gay men and what I call genderism, gender ideology.
