I would say number one, always ask for your itemized bill.

If you see something that makes no sense, ask for your medical record.

So that you've got something to say when you call billing now.

You can say, I can't afford this.

And usually they will start taking off some of those charges

because you could get put in some programs based upon

your income where they lower it or completely take it off. But you've got to ask.
