strong. John, of course, is a professor of American history and chair of the history department

at Messiah College in Pennsylvania. He's also the executive editor of the current, and his podcast

to check in with you it's old friend week here on the road to now that's great i'm privileged to be

considered an old friend how's life john how's how are things going there? Well, I just, I just, I just, I just finished classes, end of April. May has been utterly crazy.

I was telling you before we came on, I drove a U-Haul truck from Colorado to Pennsylvania with some furniture that my wife wanted from her father's old

house. My daughter just got engaged last week. My oldest daughter, so that's cool. She's

getting married May 3rd. And the big news is I'm on sabbatical all next year. So, you know, right, I'm just kind of right now just taking a week off, relaxing,

talking to you guys and ready to gear up for work.

Yeah, when a man like John Fia goes on sabbatical, it means the creative juices are flowing, John. Can you tell us what you're going to be working on for the next year?

Yeah, back in back, I think I talked to a little bit about this. I tease this a little bit and I teased it because I wasn't, I wasn't even sure yet.

But I signed, I recently signed, it might be a crazy move, but I signed a three book

contract with Oxford University Press to write a history of evangelicals and politics in the

21st century. Three volumes in the 21st century. Yeah. So the first, the first is on the Bush era, 2000, 2008.

That's due in a year from August.

The second one is on the Obama, evangelicals in the Obama era.

It's tentatively called, what was our title, Exiles in Babylon.

And then the third book, which will be out somewhere in the 30s, the 2030s, beyond Trump.

So I'll get at least enough, I'll get enough, like, distance from Trump when I write that book.

Well, the Trump, the Trump era is not over, right? Well, that's a good question. That's a good point. Right. Is it the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end? We don't know. So, John, hey, give us the elevator pitch for this series. Yeah. So it's, I don't know if you guys are familiar,
