Welcome back to the show. This week, we're looking at one of my favorite books from one of my

0:24.4

favorite authors of all time, and that's Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. So specifically, we're

0:29.4

going to dig into some passages from the book that really cut to the heart of a man and center

0:33.8

everything on the gospel of Jesus Christ. So yesterday we talked about natural law,

0:38.5

as we've seen in book one, chapter three of mere Christianity. And I post some questions at the

0:43.2

end there. What are we supposed to do with the natural law of God? Like how are we supposed to

0:48.9

perform now? And can we be perfect? And today we're going to discuss that as we look at the cost of

0:57.0

perfection. And in order to do that, let's read the following passage from book four chapter eight

1:02.1

1:29.6

have the whole tree down i don't want to drill the tooth or crown it or stop it but to have it out

1:37.4

hand over the whole natural self all the desires which you think innocent as well as the ones

1:43.9

you think wicked the as well as the ones you think wicked, the whole

1:46.0

outfit. I will give you a new self instead. In fact, I will give you myself, my own will shall become

1:58.7

yours. And guys, that's the deal.

2:02.4

That's God's final offer.

2:05.5

All of Christ for all of you.

2:08.1

But this doesn't really jive with our modern sensibilities, does it?

Right?
