The simple fact is John Sopko angered a lot of people, defense contractors, Pentagon officials,

groups that make money off providing U.S. aid in foreign countries, the U.S. Agency for International Development, USAID. Everywhere, he exposed waste, fraud,

and abuse. They smeared him in the press and even got some in the media to go along with a campaign

to try to get him fired as

Inspector General. That's when Politico in an article called him the Donald Trump of IGs,

as you will hear. And they didn't mean that as a compliment. Well, after 20 years of work,

he was winding down his offices as auditing of Afghanistan spending a bit early because there's less

to do since our botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. We aren't spending as many billions there

anymore. And I plan to do sort of an exit interview. You'll hear that in the podcast today,

plus excerpts from some of the stories I've done on his information over the years.
