This is the final episode of the series we've been chatting about this past month, Embracing the Good, Hard Life.
This series was inspired by the realization that life is usually both good and hard at the same time. For a long time, Havilah thought she needed her life to change so she can get from the hard stuff to the good stuff.
Today, Havilah is diving into mindset and why mindsets are important as we navigate life. She's sharing exactly what mindset it and the difference between a fixed and growth mindset. When we have a growth mindset, we realize we can continue to get better, be innovative, and solve problems. Having a growth mindset also allows us to view setbacks as temporary hurdles instead of things that take us out.
Let's talk about what a growth mindset looks like and how we can incorporate that into our lives!

| 0:21.3 | is just good and hard and it's usually at the same time. Like usually it's not just |
| 0:26.2 | one or the other and I think in my mind for a long time I thought that I just needed |
| 0:32.4 | my life to change so that I could get from hard to good. Like I could get from waiting |
| 0:37.6 | to like achieving or accomplishing and I think I was pretty disappointed by the time I started |
| 0:43.5 | having the good stuff happen. I still felt like it was hard and it was still like not as |
| 0:49.0 | I kind of anticipated and so that's kind of why I started this series is maybe to normalize |
| 0:54.3 | that part of your life and my life that we kind of think maybe we're missing something |
| 0:58.4 | but really not. It's just part of life and I'm trying to set you up to know that even |
| 1:03.5 | myself I'm trying to figure this out too and here's the things that are working for |
| 1:08.1 | me and things that I have to constantly work on. I love how Craig Grishel used to say |
| 1:15.3 | you know there are some things in life that are problems to solve and then there are |
| 1:20.6 | some things in life that are tensions to manage. That's what I feel like life is about |
| 1:26.4 | when you become a leader and you start kind of going after those big dreams and influencing |
| 1:31.3 | people and you know writing that book you want to write or running that organization that |
| 1:35.9 | you want to run or marrying the guy that you want to marry or having the kids or whatever |
| 1:39.8 | it is. It really isn't something you check a box. I wish somebody had told me that in |
| 1:44.4 | leadership. Like leadership isn't checking a box solved. I'm a great leader solved. I'm |
| 1:50.0 | a great boss you know solved. I'm a great mom or solved. I'm a good Christian or whatever |
| 1:55.0 | it is. It's this tension that we manage between being you know we're fluid. We're not |
