I'm your host Heather Ashley and today's case is out of Chestnut Ridge, New York.

Small talk sucks, so let's dive in. If you'd probably think she was the picture of resilience.

She was a full-time mom to a five-year-old with health issues and she was doing it all on her own.

Lacey was an open book.

She blogged, she tweeted and she updated Facebook regularly.

From the time her son Garnet was born, not a milestone pass that she didn't document.

Garnet was the center of her universe and no one could question that for a second.

Garnet Spears was born on December 3rd of 2008 in a quiet little suburb of Decatur, Alabama and Lacey could not have been happier in that moment.

Her entire life she had always wanted to be a mom and now she was. Garnet was happy and healthy until he wasn't.

Generally speaking, most moms spend the first 48 hours after birth in the hospital

before going home with their baby.

Considering that, Garnet would have been home on December 5th, but according to court documents,

he was back in the hospital on the 8th.

Any fever before three months old is generally a trip to the emergency room and Garnett was running one.

Lacey told doctors he was also projectile vomiting and it looks like he may have had an ear infection as well.

That's a stressful moment for any new mom and Lacey was terrified. She updated her

friends and family online as they pricked his little feet and ran labs.

But in the end, Garnett got the treatment he needed and he was sent home.

However, four days later, Crime Watch Daily reports, they were back and Lacey reportedly told staff that

Garnet wasn't eating and he was failing to thrive. It had only been a couple of

weeks and that's usually something the pediatrician would catch, but Lacey was a new mom and she was worried.
