Welcome back, everybody, to The Incomparable.

I'm your host, Jason Snell. We're here. I'm convening a special episode of our book club series, as was foretold in our fifth anniversary episode. In the middle of that episode, our good pal, Mr. Scott McNulty, I believe, suggested we could go back and do a classic science fiction novel for a book club like a foundation or something like that.

And I always am trying to find new topics because we're getting up toward episode 300.

And I thought that was a great idea.

And so here we are to talk about the Foundation trilogy, and I'm going to specify that,

the three original foundation books that are actually not really novels even,

but collections of short stories that are all interconnected. And it's a strange little thing written by Isaac Asimov between 1942 and 1950 and collected in three

volumes in the 50s in 51, 52, and 53.

Joining me to talk about the future history of the galaxy and the fall of the galactic empire

and things like that.
