Summary

The Door Bump Clear crew is back from Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL weekend after two playoff cutoff races. Brett Griffin, T.J. Majors and Freddie Kraft talk about the difficulty drivers had passing on Sunday, the drivers safety meeting with NASCAR, the DBC trackside live show on Saturday, and fellow podcast host Conor Daly’s Cup debut. First in Spot On, Spot Off, the guys discuss NASCAR throwing a caution for a sign on the track late in the race. Brett expresses his displeasure for NASCAR allowing signage like that on the track and explains why game seven moments shouldn’t be decided like this. Chase Elliott and AJ Allmendinger lote the lead on the second-to-last restart costing them both the win. The guys applaud both drivers’ aggressive moves but question if Allmendinger should have raced Elliott cleaner because he’s a playoff driver. Next, Cole Custer threw a block down the backstretch allowing teammate Chase Briscoe to gain positions on the final lap. They explain why Briscoe was going to make an aggressive move either way and react to NASCAR investigating if Custer’s block was intentionally helping him. William Byron’s penalty for spinning Denny Hamlin out under caution during the Texas race was reversed. The spotters explain how the appeal process works and why the hearing should have taken place sooner. Plus, hear how it ultimately impacted the Round of 12 playoff elimiations. NASCAR president, Steve Phelps, said penalizing Kevin Harvick was not punitive after his outspoken comments about the Next Gen car. The guys explain why NASCAR needs to be more transparent about their random inspection picking process. Plus, they share insight about what changes could be made for next year to the back of the car and how industry members need to be more appreciated by the sanctioning body. Finally, NASCAR responds to teams asking for a fairer profit split by proposing a small increase in revenue but also dramatic cost-cutting measures. Brett explains how large the TV contract affects the sport’s revenue and discusses the decrease in drivers’ base salaries over the past 10 years. In Reaction Theatre, fans call in about the Xfinity Series driver aggression, Kyle Larson getting eliminated from the playoffs and the caution caused by the sign. The guys make their Championship 4 predictions later in the show. Plus, a special Cup Series driver guest calls in and tells us which fan base is his favorite and who he thinks makes it to Phoenix. Thank you to our presenting sponsor Offerpad and partners Xfinity and RacingUSA.com for making this show possible.
