The Bible Study Podcast, episode 271. Today, the Bible Study podcast continues the study of the

kingdom of God.

Welcome to the Bible study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen. We wrapped up most of the references to the

kingdom of God in Mark. There are two smaller verses that we're not going to talk about in great detail,

and then we're going to jump into Luke. In Mark 14 at the Last Supper, Jesus, when he is giving

the disciples, the cup says then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks,

he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. This is the blood of the covenant, which is poured out

for many, he said to them. And that's the version that may be familiar to some. I know we use that

particular verse for communion at my church, but verse 25 goes on and says, truly I tell you, I will not drink again from

the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink of it new in the kingdom of God. I think there's a

couple different things to think about in this verse. One is good news for those of you who are wine

lovers, apparently there is wine in the kingdom of God, or for those of you who are Methodist,

there is grape juice in the kingdom of God. But also Jesus, when he talks about the kingdom of God, or for those of you who are Methodists, there is grape juice in the kingdom of God. But also Jesus, when he talks about the kingdom of God, I want to

point out just how much this verse underlines the reality of a place where God's kingdom lives.

Because when Jesus talks about the kingdom of God in this place, when Jesus talks about the kingdom of God in this place, when Jesus talks

about the kingdom of God in this particular verse, he's talking about a very real place, right?

When I am there. I don't see that the kingdom of God is from all the other verses that we've looked at,

pie in the sky when you die, but I think this first does underline a reality

to the kingdom of God. When we talk about the kingdom of God coming, when we talk about your

kingdom come, your will be done, I don't think we always grasp the idea that God's plan

is that that kingdom really does come. At some point, at some time in

this place is the kingdom of God. And that God has the resources and the power to see that
