| 1:12.4 | I'm going to be interviewing Michael Quinn in front of a live audience, again in Salt Lake City, |
| 1:18.4 | and I've just found out that many of you don't know who he is. And so just briefly, you'll find out |
| 1:23.5 | from this whole presentation who he is. But Michael Quinn was a very important LDS church |
| 1:29.6 | historian in the 70s and 80s and 90s. He was there during the Camelot years when Leonard Errington |
| 1:36.3 | was trying to open up church history to the world at the request of the church leaders. |
| 1:44.0 | He wrote several important books on Mormonism, including early Mormonism in the Magic World view, |
| 1:52.1 | which was very, very important in helping to explore Joseph Smith's use of peepstones and |
| 2:00.4 | folk magic. But he also wrote two volumes in the Mormon hierarchy series, which talk all about power |
