a brilliant guest he is a former CIA officer he's got a massive youtube channel where he helps people and teaches them all sorts of stuff that he's learned from his experience and he is also the he's also the author of a couple of books as well and this is the one and only Jason Hansen welcome to the show i think for having me no doubt Jason it's a pleasure so i've done a very brief intro and overview there but for people who are not familiar with you Jason please tell them a little bit about yourself

okay sure i'll give a rather brief intro too so i'm born and raised in the wash in DC area and my first job out of college i was a police officer and i had every agency in my backyard being born and raised in the DC area and the secret service in the CIA offered me a job i figured the agency would be a little more exciting i joined the agency i spent seven years there amazing wonderful great place but it's a single person's game and i wanted to get married and have a kids one day and so now i run a

private security company where we do all kinds of safety and survival training awesome well that's that was a super brief overview overview so there's a lot that there's a lot that we can go into there so tell me a little bit about your about your background so before you even got into the police force tell me a little bit about the story before that

so i i was an active boy like most active boys i mean i was running around shooting BB guns and woods i'm an eagle scout so i spent a lot of time in the boy scouts and in college like many kids i had no idea what i want to do with my life i knew that i didn't want to spend 40 years pushing papers in some boring job

and that's when i was like you know many kids hey i want to be in the FBI i want to be in the CIA i want to join the secret service you know i want to be a police officer i'm being a swat or whatever

and the big myth is that you know you see the Hollywood movies and the myth is that everybody gets recruited by the CIA right like they're all getting hunting down in some hotel bar and they're getting recruited that's nonsense the truth is that like 1% get recruited and 99% of us apply and are very very blessed to get through the rigorous process

awesome what was it that made you want to go into the CIA i mean you you said that you know it's something that lots of people want to do but i mean i don't know maybe where you grew up it's a little different but i don't actually know that many people who wanted to go into the police force let alone into the CIA or something like the secret service or whatever the UK equivalent is you know we have m i 5 m i 6 that sort of thing sure

i mean i'm probably two reasons one i'm very patriotic i love america i want to do some for my country so i was looking to join in the military i was looking to join in the you know all the different agencies and so patriotism has a big factor and the other thing is i wanted to venture i mean i like i said i didn't want to spend 40 years in some boring desk job i was looking for excitement i was looking for adventure and that's another reason that i decided to do it

did you have anyone in your family previously who got involved in law enforcement or anything like that or were you the first you know i didn't actually so i don't you know my family wasn't a military family my dad wasn't a cop you know any of that and so yeah it wasn't it wasn't something that was like on the family tree or anything but i was just always looking for that excitement adventure and again you know very patriotic where hey i want to do something for this awesome country that we live in

okay you know what i want to i want to i want to divert there based on something you just said which i think is interesting what does patriotism mean to you

has a great question i love that question question so patriotism means that you know you love your country you support your country

you support and defend the constitution and when i say support and defend the constitution i think that can get twisted big time

so when a lot of people hear that like support and defend the constitution they're like oh my gosh you're going to be one of those crazy guys and camouflage

who's going to go raid capital hill with an uzi in an ak 47 and take no no no no what i mean is we have rights we have the

bill of rights in the united states so you should support and defend your freedom of speech your right to

bear arms like all your rights and that's what it means to me i mean we are incredibly blessed to have

rights that many other nations don't have and you know go visit a communist country you know go to

China go to russia go to north korea go to kuba and see how you're you know running your mouth off

there works for you it's not going to get you very far so it means to me is don't take for granted

the freedoms we have and actually support them and don't be afraid to share your love for them so

you know give you another example i own a lot of guns you can obviously see guns in my background
