Hello and welcome to episode 267 of the Mindful Kind podcast. So last year I spent six months

tracking my mood three times a day to see if there was anything meaningful I could learn about myself and my

different moods. Now the reason that I did this was really just because I noticed myself feeling

much more emotional than usual. I could wake up feeling anxious and do a few self-care activities

like practicing mindfulness and doing in yoga and then feel great for a few hours.

But then a tiny little thing would trigger surprisingly intense anger or frustration.

And I just thought tracking my mood might be a way to learn some helpful things or get a

clearer insight into my emotional well-being.

Anyway, tracking my mood was a really interesting exercise

and I'm so glad that I did it and now I'm excited to share some of the things that I learned,

particularly around happiness. So the first lesson that I learned about happiness was that you

can't always choose to be happy. Yes, I think you can cultivate an optimistic outlook.

Yes, you can make an effort to have more fun.

And yes, some days I woke up and thought,

today I'm going to do my best to choose happiness whenever possible and appreciate it.
