Summary

In 2022, we -- the Brothers Moriarty -- sat down to discuss Xbox's seminal 2001 launch offering, Halo: Combat Evolved. We loved it, and we promised that we'd get to Halo 2 one day. Well, today is that day. Released late in 2004, at the back-end of Xbox's truncated lifecycle, Halo 2 is widely-considered one of the Xbox brand's highest-quality and most important games in its two decade-plus history. And candidly, we can see why. With expert gunplay, a fun sci-fi story, and a brisk runtime reminiscent of its generation (and which we frankly long for today), Halo 2 has us not only gushing about a title one-in-three OG Xbox owners purchased -- which is an insane attach rate -- but has us longing to play Halo 3, too, which we will certainly be getting to in short order here on KnockBack. Greetings and salutations. Welcome back to Knockback. My name is Kyle Moriarty. I'm joined,

as always by my brother, Dagen Moriarty Dagen. When you first saw Halo, were you blinded by its

majesty? I was blinded by your beauty, my friend. Thank you. Look at you. Thank you.

I have this beard brush, and I discovered that I can use it to brush my hair. And I was

0:38.2

telling my kid, after the first time in my entire life, I brushed my hair, like literally

0:42.6

brushed my hair for the first time. That looks really nice if you got an itch on your head,

0:48.4

no, it may be anywhere with this thing. I love, I have this weird thing,

0:56.5

Mike, it makes fun of me where I get the, I get like, I think it's our pool that does it,

0:59.8

because it happens to me in the summer, but I get like an inner ear itch sometimes at night.

1:04.0

But I kind of like it, because I get a cute tip, and then I itch it, and it, you know,

1:06.9

scratch it, and it feels so good. And I'm like, oh, yeah. This is not where I was going to go

1:12.0

at the beginning of the conversation, but I remember, I have to tell you this, I had this conversation

1:16.8

with Uncle John, and he was saying how he gets really bad, like insidious amounts of earwax.

1:24.5

And I think, I was pretty young when he told me this, but he used to put hydrogen peroxide in his

1:31.0

ear, right? Maybe with a dropper. And then he would lay down on the floor with a towel under his head.

1:38.4

And he used to, he told me, I'm pretty sure he said that golf balls sized chunks of earwax

1:46.4

came out of his ear. Now, like, you know, in a, like a liquid form. I don't know. I mean,

1:53.3

how could the golf ball fit through his ear? I don't know. That does, that sounds like nonsense.

1:58.5

I really wanted to try it, because it sounds, it's gross. Don't get me wrong.

2:03.5

It kind of sounds satisfying. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I remember mom saying that she went to a,
