Summary

On November 22, 1994, Special Agents Martha Dixon Martinez and Michael John Miller, and Police Sgt. Henry "Hank" Daley, were shot and killed inside the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Headquarters building.

0:38.5	honors one of the 88 bureau agents and employees who have died in the line of duty.
0:45.2	Whether it be from the result of an accident or illness during the commission of their assignments
0:51.2	or the result of a direct, adversarial confrontation, or by the hand of an adversary, I wanted
0:58.7	to follow that tradition for this special series by honoring one of the six women agent
1:05.4	service martyrs to highlight the commitment and sacrifices made by all women agents.
1:12.6	I chose Martha Dixon Martinez.
1:17.5	On November 22nd, 1994, special agents Martha Dixon Martinez and Michael John Miller,
1:26.2	as well as Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Detective Hank Daley, were shot and killed
1:34.0	inside the Metropolitan Police Headquarters building.
1:38.5	At approximately 3.30 p.m., a gunman entered the cold-case squad room to which the
1:45.6	agents and detective were assigned and opened fire with a tech 9 assault weapon.
1:52.4	During the exchange of fire, a third agent, John Kufte, was shot and seriously wounded.
1:59.8	The gunman also died of gunshot wounds sustained during the incident.
2:06.1	Now, next week in episode 267, retired agent John Kufte will provide a detailed case review
2:15.9	of the incident, and he'll share information about Mike Miller and Hank Daley.
