Summary

Not sure what to do with all your creative inspiration? Worried you'll end up with loads of regret or failure? In this first episode, Elizabeth Gilbert will help you rethink your relationship to inspiration and that capital F word, failure.

This is the first installment of a special five-week series we're doing on The Marie Forleo Podcast called, Love Letters to Our Creatives. Think of each episode as short, little love letters from me to you β€” reminding you of the important gifts you have, and a little nudge to make the time for your creative work.

that we're doing here on the Marie Forleo podcast for the next five weeks. I want to kick off by

anyone better than my friend, Elizabeth Gilbert, to help answer those kinds of questions.

1:13.3

This is a snippet from our conversation about her book, Big Magic, which will help you rethink

You know, the world's full of a bunch of really, really good, not done stuff.

1:31.3

And if you can just finish something, you're already like 10 miles ahead of everybody else,

1:37.3

because most people won't. And what will make you finish it is not discipline, but self-forgiveness,

1:43.8

because we all start our project on day one with the same level of excitement. And on day two,

1:48.4

we all look at what we wrote on day one and we all hate ourselves, because what we wrote on day one,

1:52.4

or did on day one, whatever our creativity is, yeah, it's horrible. And the people who go on day

1:57.6

three and pick it up again and start over are not the most disciplined. It's not rigor that's
