Hey there and welcome back to the podcast. I do hope that your fall garden is in full swing now,

but I know that in October and even pushing into November, wherever you are located,

we start to turn our attention to soil building and what can we do in the fall to help prepare

our soil for peak fertility and health for the next season.

Of course, I talked about this quite a bit last week in the episode on cover crops, and I hope

that that was helpful for you. But there are other things you can do also to prepare the soil.

For sure, I use cover crops on lots of different areas in my garden,

but I don't use them on all areas in the fall. So I just wanted to devote an episode on preparing

the soil in the fall for next season, because as I've realized over the years, there are many

things that we can actually be doing. It doesn't have to be a one-size-fits-all

approach. What I want to do in this episode in the beginning is just to kind of give you an

overarching view of what your goal needs to be. I'm going to be talking about three goals in whatever

you choose to try to help your soil. And then I'm going to give you some specific examples

of what I do in different parts of my garden depending on the needs of a specific space

and depending on maybe what I want to do in the following year or what's already growing in the

fall garden. So we're going to go from big picture to practical suggestions in this

episode and my hope is that by the end you'll have some tips and some ideas for what you
