Summary

Door Bumper Clear is back from a weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Brett Griffin, Freddie Kraft and T.J. Majors bring on a long-awaited special guest and Freddie’s boss, Denny Hamlin. The guys react to the chaotic NASCAR Cup Series race, discuss Hamlin’s team being transparent about their Pocono disqualification, and hear stories from racing late models with T.J. To begin Spot On, Spot Off, the table talks about Ross Chastain being penalized for using the turn one access road to take the lead from Tyler Reddick on the final restart. Hamlin admits whether or not he would have done the same move and debates with the spotters if NASCAR made the rules clear enough. Next, several drivers aggressively overdrove Turn 1 throughout the race on restarts causing numerous spin-outs. Brett explains why drivers were making aggressive moves and which ones were the main culprits. Hamlin chimes in about the level of respect being shown by all drivers on the track right now. Richard Childress compared how Kevin Harvick left the team versus how Tyler Reddick plans to depart after their victory on Sunday. Hear from Hamlin himself how the process of courting and signing Reddick went, and his thoughts on how RCR has reacted. Kyle Busch says he would take less money or a shorter contract to stay with Joe Gibbs Racing. The gang discusses what that means for Busch’s future and the current driver contract and salary climate. Hear why Cup Series drivers make less money today, what factors have contributed to that, and what needs to change moving forward. Hamlin has been vocal about race teams earning a more fair split of the next television contract. The guys react to NASCAR president Steve Phelps’ comments about media rights negotiations and Hamlin discusses his meeting with Marcus Smith and Justin Marks. Learn why teams need a larger portion of the rights money and how it can benefit the sport overall. Finally, they debate whether the Michigan race could put on a better show having a similar aero package to Atlanta. Hamlin talks about why he thinks the cars are still going too fast for that style of racing to work and predicts how much longer Atlanta can race like a superspeedway. In Reaction Theatre, fans coin John Hunter Nemechek a new nickname, react to Ross Chastain cutting through the access road, and perform a song for Denny. In Ask DBC, the guys discuss which Indianapolis layout NASCAR should run moving forward and who Hamlin would choose as his spotter among the three guys. Later, hear which drivers Hamlin gives his ‘What an Idiot’ award to and he answers whether or not Chastain can expect more payback. Thank you to our presenting sponsor Offerpad and partners Xfinity and RacingUSA.com for making this show possible.
