Like, we just ate.

The idea of food was somewhat a reward system once I became financially quasi-independent.

The first clue that something was wrong with the diet was when my aunt got diabetes,

and we were told that they were going to have to chop off her feet below her ankles, like a double amputation.

For me to just think about someone close to me losing their feet was a very, very hard thing to process.

And then ultimately, she died of complications associated with diabetes after the
