There were only three men who, as far as documentation goes, carry the moniker of Freeway

killer.

And, on January 8th, 1947, one of these men, one who would take the lives of a minimum

of 21 young boys, was born. So, if you like your coffee hot, but your bones chilled, sit back

and search your day with a morning cup of murder. William Bonin was born on January 8th, 1947, to alcoholic parents

and an abusive father. He and his brothers were often taken care of by sympathetic neighbors,

or their grandfather, a convicted child molester who molested William's mother when she was a child.

By 1953, the Bonn Boys were placed in an orphanage in an effort to protect them from their father,

which would have worked if it weren't for the facility and their corporal punishment practices.

Children were severely beaten, drowned in sinks filled with water to prove a point,

and Bonin himself admitted to consenting to sexual advances made by older men as long as they

agreed to bind him beforehand.

He stayed in this orphanage until he was nine.

At ten, he was arrested for the first time,

stealing license plates, and sent to a juvenile detention center where, once again, he was
