And today, we're going to be talking about Ho Shao Shen.

So as you mentioned last week, Will, this is a director that you had some familiarity with.

In fact, you had a little bit of an angry relationship with it.

Yes, folks, let me take you back to the year 2006 when I was 17 years old.

I mentioned this last week.

The first time I saw a Hoshoshan movie was when his movie three times opened theatrically in North America.

And it was one of the very few Hoshaw-Shen movies to get any

kind of theatrical release in North America. Like for a long time, he had this reputation as like

the great foreign filmmaker, the master who somehow could not get released in America because

he was, he was just too arty, too obscure. That was his reputation.

His cameras locked down.

His movies are long.

How are North American audiences are supposed to handle this?

So yeah, I was 17.

I saw three times and I hated it.

I felt it was an affront.

It's like, this movie is so slow.

I've never seen a movie this slow. This is the emperor's new clothes right here. I'm smarter than this. I'm 17 years old. I'm smarter. I could make this movie. Exactly. My kid could paint this. But I don't know. I think clearly the movie stuck with me. I must have been, like, stimulated in some way by the

challenge of it, because after that, like, I sought out other Hoshoshan movies. Like, I went and
