Welcome back to the show. I'm just back from Australia. So we will be resuming publishing schedule with spit and the grit. I have a stockpile of episodes recorded in Australia, which I'll be rolling out in the coming months. Today's show is actually not in my recording schedule when I was on the ground in Australia, but it happens spontaneously.

I was at the Visla, Sydney Surf Pro, and Westberg casually introduced me to today's guest, Brett

Canellan. And not as a potential podcast guest, but just as a, hey, David, meet Brett,

and his journey through recovery are all equally profound. I think there are countless insights

1:52.2

here to be gleaned for how to remain calm and pragmatic when facing a life-threatening

1:57.1

confrontation, shark attack or otherwise, and then also just how to leverage a trauma

2:02.5

to empower growth. And then there's some interesting stuff about how to meaningfully connect with

loved ones. This is Brett Kenellen, ladies and gentlemen, and I am David Scales for Surf Splendor.

I really hope that you enjoy our conversation. Yeah, so I was actually in a really, really good place in my life.

I had just come off a couple of results surfing for my board riders club, where we'd done

really well.

We'd run a regional qualifier and ended up surfing in the
