Ashrae Bhaistasidhye I take refuge in the self, the indivishthuisable,

the existence, consciousness, bliss, absolute,

beyond the reach of words and thought,

and the substratum of all for the attainment of my cherished desire.

So what's going on?

We are analyzing the statement that thou art, Tattvamasi.

Why are we doing that?

Because it's the heart of Adwaita Vedanta.

All of Adwaita Vedanta can be expressed as the teaching that thou art.

These Mahavakias, these great sentences,

they summarize the entire teaching of Adhwaita Vedantah.

The claim is that all the Upanishads,

Bhagavad Gita, Brahmasutra, and all the texts in Adwaita Vedantah,

they culminate in this final, this central teaching that you are the absolute reality.

And so sentences like that dawa, Tatwamasi, which is most well known, which we are doing right now,

or the same meaning is conveyed by Aham Brahmasmi, I am Brahman, or by Ayam Atma Brahmha, this very self is Brahman,
